There is busy and there is busy. Some changes to the website

After some meditation, deliberation, conversations (with myself) and thorough pondering, I have decided to make some changes to the website.

From the start I planned to be a small-time semi-professional book blog, focusing on LBGTQ-books. Doing mainly reviews and interviews with authors and being available for and open to promotional posts.

While I was off to a good start a year ago, it turned out that work, study, internship, volunteer work and a social life don’t work really well with running a blog at the capacity I wanted it to.

This summer it all came to a halt when the internship at a school and exams all became too much. As much as I wanted to, I haven’t found my balance yet and am still tired.

So I decided to make some changes. I’m going to make BookWinked a personal book blog. Where I do small time stuff.

What does this mean?

  1. Review policy / accepting reviews were closed down and they will remain closed. That side of the site will go down. I will no longer accept random review requests, but rather pick the books I want to read through either Netgalley or contact with the author.
  2. Promotional spots for LBGTQ-books (only) will be still be available and you can contact me through the usual channels.
  3. I will still do author interviews and ‘fun posts’ whenever I have the time. No longer on a regular schedule.
  4. The biggest change will be that I will open up the blog for other genre reviews. Basically this means if I like a book and it’s mainstream romance, young adult or a biography, I will post a review. This means the blog will be more general. This change is for reviews only. Not for promotional posts.

Hopefully this will give me some piece of mind, rather than make me feel guilty about late reviews.

Totally understand why you need to make changes. Thanks for letting us know! I still plan on following your blog. You can’t get rid of me that easily. 😀

Other genre reviews, eh? So a certain ‘bizarre M/F erotica’ novel might get a review here after all.
